About The Opportunity
Rottnest Island is Western Australia’s iconic holiday and tourist destination, an idyllic Island with picturesque beaches, turquoise waters and protected bays.
Rottnest is an A-Class Reserve, part of the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people who know the Island as Wadjemup or “place of spirits”.
There has been significant private investment on Rottnest over the last two years with the opening of the $40 million dollar Samphire/Hotel Rottnest Resort and the $20 million Discovery Eco Resort at Pinky’s Beach.
Rottnest Island Authority seeks new businesses to ensure the Island remains an innovative and exciting holiday destination and that excellent service levels are maintained.
Expressions of interest are sought in the following four categories:
Recreational Leisure Activities
Expressions of Interest are sought from experienced business operators to deliver new and innovative recreational leisure activities on the Island.
Rottnest Island Authority is seeking innovative businesses that will provide significant appeal to the diverse interests of visitors coming to the island. Offerings must appeal to local, inter-state and international visitors and reflect the quality and richness of the Island destination.
North Thomson Inflatable Water Park
Expressions of Interest are sought from experienced business operators wishing to operate a floating inflatable, water based, recreational water park attraction in the prime North Thomson Bay location.
Ideally, your business will be great family fun, have a variety of inflatables, be visually appealing, meet all regulatory standards and attract a wide and diverse range of customers wishing to enjoy the water.
Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Offerings
Expressions of Interest are sought from the Aboriginal community who have a willingness to offer socially aware and inclusive experiences to visitors.
Today’s local and world travellers show a greater interest in learning about the cultural values and origins of destinations they visit. There is great interest to understand the Aboriginal connection to Rottnest Island and there is scope to use amenities such as the recently completed Wadjemup discovery trail to share the Aboriginal story.
All types of Aboriginal businesses are invited to Wadjemup to display the diversity and richness of culture.
Expressions of Interest are sought from suitably experienced operators to establish retail 'Pop-Up' stores on Rottnest during the months of December and January. The Rottnest peak season sees extremely high visitation to the Island and demand for services and activities exceeds current supply.
Rottnest Island Authority is encouraging proposals from imaginative retailers that can create a sense of theatre, vibrancy, and high levels of interest from Island visitors.
